Mr Steven Lau is a local who grew up in Herne Bay in Kent and is proud to serve his local community. He qualified from medical school at Edinburgh University where he obtained a first class honours in his intercalated degree.  His surgical training included posts as a trauma fellow at the Royal London Hospital and he completed his higher surgical training on the prestigious South East Thames rotation, gaining his FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2010.

Mr Lau developed an interest in spinal surgery early during his surgical training, and has worked in the spinal units at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, Guys and St. Thomas’ Hospital and the Evelina Unit. Having completed his spinal fellowship at the University Hospital of Wales, he visited many nationally and internationally renowned spinal units to gain an in depth perspective in spinal surgery.  He was appointed a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust in 2012.
